I just watched Amy Tan’s speech on creativity at the 2008 TED conference. During the first half, I hated it. I thought it was unfocused and shallow and I almost gave up on it. Then all of a sudden it picked me up and threw me across the room. There was so much compelling content flashing by that I couldn’t take it all in. I felt as though Amy Tan was giving me answers to some of my most important questions. I really don’t understand what she did or how she did it, but I know I am going to watch that speech at least 10 more times.
